Hattie Kent Davis FLOWERS, 71, died Thursday, December 27, 2012 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Flowers was born on Saturday, December 28, 1940 to the late Oscar and Alice King Kent in Mansfield and was a life long resident. Hattie retired from CPC/General Motors in 2005 after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Shiloh Full Gospel Baptist Church where she served on the Trustee Board and as the adjutant to the first lady of Shiloh.
Hattie is survived by her husband: Ruben Flowers, Jr. of Lima; 3 children William J. Kent, Jr., Mansfield, Ozelia (JaMarr) Wortham, Dayton, and Paul A. Kent, Sr., Marion; brother: Gabriel Kent, Mansfield; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; a special cousin Alice Bond-Minor, Mansfield; and extended loved ones in Lima. Hattie was more than an aunt to her host of nieces and nephews she served as their mother after the loss of their mothers.
In addition to her parents Hattie was also preceded in death by her 1st husband Arthur Davis, 2 sisters Mamie Kent, and Eva Sykes, brother Saliheen Kent, 1 grandson Daytrin Kiah, and 1 niece Jacqueline Kent.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 11:00 AM in the Shiloh Full Gospel Baptist Church by her pastor, Bishop William Morris, Jr. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Inurnment will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
Due to the holidays the family will hold a visitation on Tuesday in the chapel of the funeral home from 1-3 p.m. This will allow those friends who may be unable to take part in her homegoing celebration to pay their respects.
