Mardra Allen

Mardra ALLEN, 75, quietly passed this life Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the home of her daughter in Pickerington, Ohio after a brief illness. Mrs. Allen was born on Sunday, December 12, 1937 to the late John Henry and Eva Johnson Williams in Andalusia, Alabama and had lived in Mansfield the past 58 years. Mardra received an Associates Degree from Mansfield Business College for Administrative Secretary. She went on to be employed by Montgomery Wards, United Telephone Company and lastly with Sears. Mardra was active in the churches of which she was a member, Oasis of Love formerly Greater St. John COGIC were she served as the Teacher of the Purity Class, member of the Prayer Band, and a licensed Missionary. She was a former member of Maddox Memorial COGIC, and when visiting her children she would become active with their churches serving and teaching in the children's ministries (Rhema Bible Church, Grace Covenant Christian Center). As a licensed Missionary, Mardra spoke at the Oasis of Love, Maddox Memorial and other churches upon invitation. She had a life long ministry of serving with her sister Fannie Jones in visiting the sick and shut in, praying with them, running errands and performing chores in their homes. Most recently Mardra became a member of her nephew, Jeff Jone's church, First Baptist Church of Willard Mansfield Campus. Mardra is survived by 2 daughters: Gloria "Doddie" and Curtis “Randy" Caldwell, Pickerington, Ohio Katherine Allen, Birmingham, Alabama; son: William Charles Allen, Austin, Texas; 3 granddaughters: Sharifah Mardra and Hafiah Z. Eltahir, Mardra Amirrah Caldwell; grandson: Jalon L. Nance; 6 sisters: Fannie Jones, Mansfield, Aretha Darrington and Erie Dickson, Selma, Alabama, Annest (Robert) Evans of Kissimmee, Florida, Gloria (Lewis Coolidge) Gray, Brewton, Alabama, Eloise Judson, Lockhart, Alabama; 3 brothers: Ben Williams, Sr., Superintendent Aaron (Betty) Williams, Sr., Mansfield, and Cleveland Williams, Lockhart, Alabama. In addition to her parents her husband Earl preceded Mardra in death, 5 sisters Queen Davison, Lilly Myrtis Harris, Addie, Emma, and Essie Williams, 5 brothers John, Leroy, Willie, J. V., Joe Louis Williams, Dr. Vance Williams, and twins Elijah and Eliza Williams Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 10:00 AM in the Oasis of Love Church, at the request of Pastor Jeff Jones, Bishop Cliffton Jones will be presiding and son and minister Charles Allen will deliver the eulogy. Friends may call at the church one-hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday at 393 Woodridge Dr. from 4-7 p.m.
