J. C. TODDIE, 74, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 in Visca Terra Hospice in Columbus, Georgia after a sudden illness.
Mr. Toddie was born on a Saturday, June 25, 1938 to the late Advance Toddie and Johnnie l. Bradley Toddie Lindsay in Andalusia, Alabama. J. C. lived in Mansfield prior to moving to Oakland, California. He would spend the next 40 years there with the California City School System retiring in 1995. After his retirement J. C. moved to Columbus, Georgia spending the past 18 years there. His greatest enjoyment was walking, to the point that he never owned a car.
J. C. is survived by his daughter: Tonda Eujenia Toddie, Mansfield, 2 step children: Veronica "Punkin" and Eric"Bubba" Toddie, Mansfield; 2 brothers: Lawrence (Doris) Feagin of Mansfield, and Harold Toddie, Sidrra Dist, AZ; 9 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents his brother William Eddings preceded J.C. in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, at 11:00 AM in the Ruth Anna Lee Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Services by Pastor Patricia Sullivan of the New Beginings Baptist Church. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
The family will also receive friends from 5-8 daily till the day of the funeral services at the home of his daughter Tonda, 192 Atchison Ave. and his brother Lawrence, 170 W. 5th St.
