Eric Oscar ADDAI, 61, of 54 Orchard St. died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after an brief illness.
Mr. Addai was born December 24, 1948 to the late Kwame Brefo and Amma G. Nkrumah in Atonsu, Ghana, Africa and had live in Mansfield the past 25 years. Eric was currently the Operations Supervisor in the Sewer Repair Department serving with the City of Mansfield for 17 years. He was a member of the Mitchell Chapel AME Church where he served as a Steward, and treasurer of his Neighborhood Watch group. Eric enjoyed sports with soccer being his favorite, participating in his youth and becoming an avid spectator as an adult, and watching golf and football on television. He also loved to entertain, cooking and bar-b-queing for his family and friends. The joy he received from entertaining and cooking will always be remembered when he gathered the family after the graduation ceremony of his daughter from Kent State University in December.
Eric is survived by his wife of 25 years Lena Holt Addai; Daughter: Jessica Addai; and Son: Benjamin Addai of Mansfield; 1 Sister: Rosina Brefo of Tema, Ghana; 5 Brothers: Elliot (Patience) Acheampong of Tamale, Ghana, Steven (Patience) Kofi of Tema,Ghana, Yaw (Maria) Mensah of Cheasapeake, Virginia, Prince (Comfort) Acheampong of Bronx, New York, and Stephen (Mary) Ofori of Huntington, Wet Virginia; and 1 Special Cousin: Stephen Nsiash of Bronx, New York.
In addition to his parents Eric was preceded in death by 1 Sister, and 1 Brother.
Services:
Friends may call Thursday after 2 at the Ruth Anna Lee Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Services where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p. m.. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 11:00 A.M. in the Oasis of Love Church Of God In Christ by his pastor Rev. Brandon Davis. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
